Giz Some of Yer Blood Der!!

Blood donation is a huge part of my life and I think it should be a huge part of everyones lives.

I'm constantly going on to friends and family, hell I'm on to perfect strangers about it too! But yet only one of my friends has donated blood even though they all know how much it matters(well I hope they know at this stage!)

I made a video trying my best to explain it all and to show you a little of what the process was like(they told me I couldn't film after a while..!) So I will link it below.

But maybe if I tell you a little sob story you will think about it a little more?

Just before Christmas 2011 my older Brother Seán was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia. I'm terrible at explaining it so I'll let Wikipedia do it for me:

'Aplastic anemia is a condition where bone marrow does not produce sufficient new cells to replenish blood cells.^[1] The condition, as the name indicates, involves both aplasia and anemia. Typically, anemia refers to low red blood cell counts, but aplastic anemia patients have lower counts of all three blood cell types: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, termed pancytopenia.'

It's not like regular anaemia in the slightest and I watched my Brother's health decline rapidly as he waited treatment. He received something like 8 full blood transfusions and 14 I think platelet transfusions. He also received ATG as well. 

Now if people like me who are A+ didn't donate their blood death would be knocking at my Brother's door right now(Seán is also A+) so basically without blood donors people like my Brother would not be alive. Seán is only 24 and I couldn't imagine my life with out him.

This is a very brief synopsis of 'My Story' but PLEASE give blood. Stop making excuses, you have the time and your fear of needles and/or blood is much less then the fear of dying because not enough people donated your blood type that week.

My First Photo Shoot!

Some of you may or may not know that I was makeup artist on my first ever photo shoot a week ago!

Caoimhe was a year ahead of me in school, is starting fashion photography in September and is building up her portfolio. 

I was super excited when she asked me to do the makeup but pretty nervous too as I haven't even started my course but Caoimhe assured me it was natural makeup which I suppose I've been doing on my friends(and myself) for a long time!

So the shoot took place on Bull Island in Howth, which was a gorgeous location. I was instagram-ing all day!

My Week in Picture's #5

So here we are week five my week in picture's where I pull a few(I say a few as the post would be WAY too long if I included every photo I instagramed during the week!) picture's from my Insagram!

My sister and I made home made pizza from scratch, chicken and roasted veg as our toppings! YUM

I did makeup on my first ever photo shoot, which I'll probably do a post on when I get the actual photo's but here are my side line pics!

We did the shoot in Howth(Bull Island) and there were plenty of lovery views just like this! GORGE!

I'll tell you a night in your snug bed with a good book(kindle) and a glass of white wine is a MUST every now and then!

My cat Poppy and my puppy Lucy have never got on but here's hoping!

I threw a farewell party for my Friend Kasper who is moving to Glasgow for a year(sad face!)  so we took a photo for our friend who couldn't make it!

I have been so bad at blogging a tubing but I'll get it all up and running again cause I mean hello it's kinda my life... my favourite thing to do really!

A post from a café

So I'm sitting in a small café in Naas which is in Kildare; I have 2 hours to kill so I thought I start up the blogger app and just write!

Yesterday I met in town with mu bessum bud Seána and her friend Hannah. Spur of the moment we went to the wax museum off Dame street. Which I have to say made for a different fun afternoon with lots of pictures!

Being the spontaneous person I am(not really) myself and Seana went on over to Naas and saw Brave the Disney Pixar Scottish kids cartoon movie and guys it is AMAZING. We really loved it and were laughing the whole time(way more then the kids...) so I recommend it and this is coming from someone who has no interest in those type of movies anymore!

I stayed in Seánas last night and was up bright and early at 8 this morning(far too early!) as Seána had a driving lesson at 11:20 but could only get a lift in at 8.30!
We mosied about getting breakfast, coffee popping into a friends shop and the likes before I settled myself in the corner of this café ordering the smallest cheapest coffee as I have literally €2.50 left and the ATM is only dispensing multiples of 50's(I only have about €21 in my account..)
So this is where I will stay until I'm guessing close to 1pm. At least I have my kindle to keep me company!

My Week In Picture's #4

It's that time again where I share a few photo's from my Instagram that I posted during the week!

I'm doing this thing #PhotoADayAugust that I saw Ellie was doing so I jumped on board, I love it and it forces me to take more pictures(did I really need any help there?)

The first most exciting thing this week is that I passed all my exams! Which of course I blogged about yesterdee!

My puppy Lucy Lou does the cutest thing where she drags her smaller bed(originally the cats!) to her bigger bed and falls asleep!

One of the #photoadayaugust was you as a child. I think i was pretty cute...

Qualified to Beautify People!

BAD BLOGGER! I know it's been 6 days since my last post but even longer since a proper post but the time just crept up! sozzy!

In some great news, I passed ALL of my college exams! 

So what does this mean? Well it means I'm a qualified beauty therapist! I was so worried I was going to fail 2 of my exams as in I was convinced I would have to repeat my Indian Head Massage theory paper as well as my Body Therapy theory paper. The pass rate is 60% for every exam which is pretty high in my opnion especially well my Indian Head theory paper only had about 20 or 30 questions I think!

So what exactly am I qualified in?

I got my:

CIBTAC Aesthetic Diploma which is:

-Manual Skin Treatments

-Electrical Skin Treatments

-Eyelash & Eyebrow Tinting

-Eyebrow Shaping

-Makeup

-Manicure & Pedicure

-Waxing Treatments

CIBTAC Body Therapy Diploma which is:

-Body Electrical Treatments

-Anatomy & Physiology 

-Body Massage

ITEC Indian Head Massage Diploma which is:

-Anatomy & Physiology

-Indian Head Massage

-Professional Conduct & Business Awareness 

I also did get qualified in SunFX Spray tan and Phorest Memento 6 which is basically a computer programme most salon's use in receptions.

I'm over the moon and just still in shock that I have these qualifications, I was very close to dropping out of Secondary School(I passed all of my Leaving Certificate exams in 2011) and then close again to dropping out of College so to think i've come this far is just proof to myself that I'm a capable person once I set my mind to it!

Marina and the Diamonds/Doll Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Heyyo everyone!

So I have just uploaded a tutorial to my youtube channel which I am totally excited about right now! (Click HERE to see the video!)

I have of late been obsessed with Marina and the Diamonds specifically her acoustic version of 'Homewrecker'. It's insanely good!

So I decided to do a tutorial inspired by her makeup because I just love the drama of it! 

I think mine came out as a mixture between Marina and the Diamonds and a creepy doll!

OOTD | Picnic Time

So today my Mum woke me up way too early to ask if I wanted to go on a picnic, and sure I was doing nothing so why not!?

So Madre made the sarnies and off we drove with the Brother and puppy in tow. 

We decided Powerscourt waterfall was a nice location for a wonder and a spot of lunch, here is what I wore (Thanks to Charlie for putting up with me taking the pics! The photos of my outfit were taken in my garden)

My top is from H&M, I love it so flowy and comfy! 

The white cardigan with a grey thick stripe running through is from Abercrombie & Fitch

The bag is a pastel/nude bloc colour bag from Penny's

I am wearing black ankle length legging's simply from Dunnes Stores

My boots are these super cute horse riding/chelsea style ankle boots also from Dunnes Stores

My makeup was simple, you can't really see but I did a green/grey smokey eye and then I used a revlon|just bitten lip stain in Flame. Oh and of course I'm wearing my prescription Raybans and thick eye brow's.

The Batman & May Boatwright

It is at this moment in time 01.21 in the morning of Thursday August 2nd and for some reason I have decided to blog. I think this is probably how blogging began, people not being able/not wanting to sleep.


So what to blog about at this hour? 


I went to see the latest instalment of the Batman last night but I didn't like it that much, far to violent for my liking. I didn't think I would, but I got quite upset when the 'bad guys' went into the stock exchange place and opened fire. It reminded me of the shooting in Colorado so from then on I was just quite upset to be honest. 

You see the thing about me is that I do get quite effected by other people's pain. Not physical pain per say but emotional pain. 
When I was sitting in the cinema I kept thinking about what the victims and their families felt like when the shooting happened by the 'bad guy' (I agree with Phillip DeFranco who said he will no longer say his name as the bastard doesn't deserve fame)


This is just one thing that has affected me but quite often I find I can't watch the news because it really is just a tv show about suffering now. With violence, death and sorrow consuming every crack of our societies, or so it feels. I do believe that without the bad we can't know the good but does it really take that much bad?


I've always been someone who can empatise even if I haven't gone through a situation nearly as similar I've managed to find a way. I love to listen and I love to help in any way I can. I have also on many occasion wished and prayed that it was me who had their pain because I can't stand to see suffering, I would much rather endure it. 

Have you read the book 'The Secret Lives of Bee's'? I highly recommend it or at least watch the movie but there is one character May Boatwright who I feel I could relate to. She was so sensitive to pain and suffering and eventually  

*SPOILER* 

kills herself. Now I'm not as bad as that but I really did understand her character and as this book was on my leaving certificate course I definitely enjoyed reading more into her character.
