I was Blonde!?

Every time I tell people that I used to have blonde hair it takes a photo for proof and then another to prove I have in fact been blonde more then once!

The first time I was bleach blonde was when I was 15 I think. Maybe younger or older but I got a bleach kit and that was that!

After that I dabbled with high lights and brown tones until I felt the blonde itch again so once more I grabbed a bleeching kit. I was 18 then. I kept up that act for about 6 months before dying my hair nearly black and that was the last time I dyed my hair!

So 5 months off my 21st Birthday I haven't dyed my hair in 2 years which is so weird for me as I had been dying my hair since I was 12 every few months!

I might do a 'my hair story' post some day but for now this is just a look back on my my super bright blonde-ness.

Love & Kisses,
Alice x

ps isn't it crazy that I look the exact same now as I did when I was 15 let alone when I was 18...

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Christmas!
I hope you all had a safe and wonderful Christmas day with your loved ones.

I have been taking a little bit of a break from the Internet just checking in here and there but I will be back to regular posting soon with a lot of reviews and fun things planned.
Especially that I was very fortunate to receive a new camera for Christmas- a Nikon D5100! So with the new posts there will hopefully be better quality picture's!

Love & Kisses,

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Review

I'm sure you all know by now(or should know!) that I am a fully qualified Beauty therapist. I do all sorts of treatments one of them being spray tans. I also have a whole box filled with self tanner so to say I have used my fair share of tan-tastic products would be an understatement.

Marissa Carter who owns Carter Beauty in Blackrock is the most lovely woman who has been chatting away to us bloggers on twitter for some time. Well she has come out with this (gorgeously pink packaged) 1 hour self tan. I honestly have become really lazy with applying tan; we're not allowed wear it in college so I haven't been too pushed. So when I heard all of the rave reviews I was a little like 'Okay I'm sure it's great but a bit of Sally on stand by will do me grand'. When I however won a bottle of the Cocoa Brown tan and did my patch test I immediately liked the idea of the moose so I decided to give the tan an in debt review.

I applied a layer really easily to my pasty legs(eek can't believe I'm showing you all a picture!) with my (not the cleanest-oops) tanning mit. I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely the moose went on(the only moose tan I've used is when I stole some of Mum's St.Tropez when I was about 12!) and even more surprised at how fast it dried! You don't use too much product and something that you clean freaks out there like me will appreciate-it doesn't go everywhere!
1 Hour Later
When I looked at my legs I thought oh no... it doesn't look very nice, I can't give a bad review can I!? But I popped into the shower anyway and gave my legs a rinse. I patted them dry and to my amazement the colour was even and brown. Not orange ladies. Brown
The colour was a nice subtle glow and I felt wonderful!
(sorry for the iPhone snap, I didn't have a camera around!)
When I do false tan I like to be that little bit darker so the next day I repeated the process and again before I showered I thought. Crap, I shouldn't have done another layer! But once more I rinsed, patted dry and like magic the colour was gorgeous!
I apologise for the photo's not being the best quality, with the time of day, lighting and all other things it's quite hard to take a picture of your own legs. But please take my word for it from a beautician and beauty blogger that this tan is the new must have at home self tanner and at only €7.99 I'm pretty sure that's cheaper the Sally Hansen!

Check out the fab new site here and let me know if you are going to try/have tired Cocoa Brown and let me know your thoughts!

love and kisses,
Alice x

ps My cousin actually borrowed some of the tan for a wedding 2 weeks ago and she loved it. She's been harassing me asking me where I got it, where she can get it yada yada yada so there's another quick review for you!

First Impressions: Ugg Dakota Moccasin's

For anyone who follows me on twitter (which you can do here) I was tweeting as I was doing a spot of Christmas shopping which included making a purchase for yours truly, c'est moi!

I have wanted a pair of tan Ugg Dakota Moccasin's for 2 years since my cousin Máire first came to spend Christmas with us and she sported a pair. Basically they are slippers but because of the sole on the bottom you can wear them out doors too! They keep your feet really snug, warm and dry!
I couldn't justify spending nearly €100 on a pair of well slippers essentially but as the idea of them stuck in my head for so long and I found myself thinking you know what I could wear with this outfit? You get the idea I really wanted them!

To me their kind of like the ballet flats/pumps of winter. It's far too cold for the dainty shoes but sometime boots are just not what you want to wear either so i give you moccasin's!
I got mine €90 in Schuh.(€100 without student discount) They were being sold in Arnotts for €95 and you can get the 'Ansley'(look like loafers) in House of Fraser, BT2 and the 2 shops that stock the Dakota as I said(I've done my research!)

The box that they came in says that they are made with water resistant material's. I don't remember seeing thing on my classic tall Uggs I got a few years ago so this is a welcome improvement in my books! I also sprayed this protectant spray I got in the Walking company when I was in the states 4 years ago.

Baiscally i am in love them so far so let's see how they stand the test of time!

Until next time, I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,
Alice x
ps I was a bad blogger and have been wearing the Uggs since I got them inside and out before photographing

Flawless Finish with Blank Canvas F18 Brush

I received an email recently showing the Blank Canvas F18 Brush and right away I wanted to write about it as it looks just AMAZING!

The F18 brush is a small duo fibre brush made from a blend of natural and synthetic fibres  costing just €14 and is perfect for buffing/stippling foundation on but great for all other cream products like blush as well. I've wanted a small one for quite some time for those little areas a big one just can't reach like the corners of your nose so maybe this is the one for me!?

I am a huge fan of duo fibre brushes I've been using the MAC 187 for years now, have a Makeup4Ladies(funny name I know) one in my makeup kit and a Crown brush sadly sitting isolated as I melted some of the bristles(long story). Basically I just love them! They give such a flawless air brushed appearance that just can't be compared to your bog standard flat foundation brush.

I think I will treat myself to a Blank Canvas F18 Brush once I finish my Christmas shopping(if I have any money left over!) as I've wanted to try out the blank canvas brushes for quite some time so getting this email has certainly made me want to give it a real try!

Do any of you own this or any other blank canvas brush? Will you be getting your hands on one of these babies?

Blank Canvas Cosmetics are available to purchase online at

Until next time I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

Beauty Blogger Tag

I'm here with another tag as it's late on a Sunday night but I really wanted to blog! I hadn't realised the time had crept up and it's been a while since my last post, college has been crazy busy coming up to Christmas and then with Birthday's and Wedding's blogging was the last thing on my mind!

This is the Beauty Blogger tag that I found when I googled those exact words, please do do the tag and link me it in the comments!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I started a blog agesss ago but didn't really get into is then when my best friend Claire (her blog) I started up again and once more stopped. Then I went to a blogger meetup and from there I have loved blogging as it's another way to talk to like minded people and about the stuff a lot of friends get bored of hearing(not all beauty fan's.. cray cray I know!).

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
Apart from Claire's? Sarah or adoreabubbles as she was a youtuber first like me and was the organiser of the blogger met up I attended. She would be one of my closest friends that I've met through YouTube and blogging

Most important part about doing a blog post?
That you like what you're writing. Every now and then I read a post that I know is sponsored and you  can tell their making up that they like the product so that is very important. I also think good pictures(says the one with no picture's on this post!)

What kind of camera do you use?
I use a canon s90, my iPhone 4 and a Nikon DSLR that I don't know which one. I am getting a Nikon D5100 soon though.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?
Definitely the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I would never have thought of getting it if it wasn't for the great reviews

What are your favourite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?

1) Meeting great woman(mostly) and talking to them on twitter and through comments

2) Blabbing on about what I want to talk about and getting some of those emotions out on the key board

3) Sometimes I get sent free things(very, very rare) which to me is the coolest thing in the world and is the most fun! I haven't had one thing that I haven't really liked yet either

4) It's nice to not have to get all done up like would for a youtube video

5) Every time I get a comment it makes my day or a new follower especially on the blog as I do find I get more traffic easier on YouTube so when it happens on here I'm all like WOW

What have you learned from being a beauty blogger?
That it's a nicer place to be then YouTube.(I've had no hate where as on YouTube...), There are so many wonderfully talented people out there writing about stuff that I like and we can talk and get excited about things and that I'm not as good at writing as I thought I was in school..

Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
I've learned how to do things on a computer more. As is I was always computer savy but I'm learning things that are slightly more difficult like HTML. My cousin designs websites and she taught it all to herself which is amazing so I'd love to be able to a little bit of that side of things!

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
Keep at it. It's a slow process and I'm still climbing but it's fun! Talk to other bloggers you need to stick together and support each other. There's no point wishing people will comment on your blog if you don't do the same and I mean genuine comments that are to do with their post!

Your Favorite Eyeshadow Palette?
My Urban Decay Naked palette or my inglot freedom system palette

The Best Beauty Deal?
Essence I heart stage eye primer all though I haven't been using eye primer for ages!

Makeup Regrets?
Elizabeth Arden foundation compact

Name your top five Beauty brands!
Revlon, Mac, Inglot, Max Factor and Benefit

Recommend your top five favourite beauty products!
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette
  • Revlon Color Stay Foundation
  • Eldora false lashes
  • Sally Hansan Nail Polish
  • Inglot Eye shadows
And that's that! I hope you guys enjoy this, I hope to have a few 'proper' posts up soon including a post I've been writing for weeks but is a very topical one so i have to be careful on how I write it.(nothing to do with beauty either)
Sorry if this post makes no sense I am half asleep...

Until next time,
I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

Inis the energy of the sea cologne review

In the summer I went to a blogger meet up which inspired me to really get into blogging we all received a goody bag each that contained fun bits and bobs. Among the items were two Inis perfume samples.

So my opinion of Inis before the samples was that it was for older woman and wouldn't be for the 'younger consumer'. When I smelled the sample I was presently surprised it smelled amazing and would be exactly the type of smell I would go for. So when I received a 50ml bottle I got pretty excited.

I didn't want to just try it for myself so I got my sister and Mum to try it and tell me what they thought of it.

My Mum quite liked it but I think she's still going to stick to her Dior perfume(the only perfume she's worn since before I can remember!) she loved the packaging the misty bottle has a really nice feel that Mum liked. She also told me to tell you all that if you're going to visit someone in a different country that it makes a great gift that is very Irish but different from your normal pick(like turf as I joked).

My sister loved it. She said it was like a men's cologne but for woman. Which makes sense as this is a uni-sex cologne that 'evokes the male and female sides of each individual, combining the secrets of nature and creating a feeling of sensuality.'

so the technical side of things so you know what you're going to smell like!

Top Notes
Sparkling, diffusive citrus, notes of Sicilian lemon, bergamot, neroli and traces of marine notes.
Middle Notes
Muguet(Lily of the valley and geranium
Bottom Notes
Enrichening and deepening spice notes of cloves and nutmeg, combined with sandalwood, oakmoss and musk

I would highly recommend this cologne and think it would make a great present this Christmas be it for a foreign friend or you sister I think most people would like the scent. I would say that if you're into really fruity light smells you probably won't like this one but do try and get in and give it a sniff for yourself.

Click here to see the full range of the energy by the sea collection for prices and all of those details.

Until next time I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you all soon,

Why I don't do many Makeup Tutorials

I'm sure most of my readers know I have a YouTube channel where I make beauty video's and the likes. Basically it's my blog in video form! You can click HERE to bring you to said channel.

Well as you may or may not know I am also a Theatrical & Media Makeup student. So I don't want to sound like I'm tooting my own horn but I feel I'm fairly okay at doing makeup.
I think that I am better at doing makeup on other people  as apposed to myself so that is the first reason why I don't do as many makeup tutorial's as perhaps a (nearly) makeup artist should be doing.

The second and main reason I don't do many makeup tutorials is because honestly makeup just doesn't look as good on me! I don't have that much eye space for some awesome cool eye looks so as much I want to teach others it's hard to show on myself. I mean I could get someone to model occasionally but I'm pretty sure people watch YouTube tutorials to learn how to do makeup on themselves not others.

The third reason and the worst reason really is that I find it hard to think of looks people would like me to do! So by all means leave me suggestions. But specific ideas like a tutorial using orange and black or a bold lip... ideas are just... hard! ha ha

So those are the reason's I don't post many makeup tutorials that often on my YouTube channel.

There is my thought for the day!

Until next time, I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

My Marilyn Monroe Collection

I'm not sure if I have clarified just how much I love Marilyn Monroe. I've had an 'obsession'(bit of a strong word but It describes it pretty well!) with her for a very long time. There fore I have built up a bit of a collection which is always expanding so I thought I would share it with you all today!
(picture heavy, let it load the photo's are worth it ;) )

Firstly is my 'Hollywood Mirror' as I like to call it. All of the picture's are from my last years calender that was filled with beautiful pictures of Marilyn. They remind me of polaroids.
This picture was a gift from my little Brother(most of my collection have been gifts) years and years ago. It has 2 pictures of Marilyn and then her filmography is in the other box, beautifully framed of course.
This Pop Art style canvas picture was a present from my older Brother which I he got in France when he lived there as a Christmas present. It is a nice medium size that I hang in my room but can't wait to hang it in my living room when I move out(this is just where I imagine it even though I have no plans to leave home anytime soon..)
This alarm clock that doesn't work anymore from me constantly pushing is off my bedside table in the mornings it woke me up was a present from  my Mum. I still keep it beside my bed just as a decoration really!
This is a small black and white canvas print I bought in a discount shop for €2 in Toulouse a few years ago, bargain or what!?
This is definitely my favourite item in my collection a gift from my sister which she got in 'The Book Stop' I believe. It's a huge coffee table book that is just amazing, the images are beautiful with different flaps that contain things like a copy of a scene from a script with Marilyn's notes, personal cheques... so many amazing things that makes you feel like you have a part of Marilyn.. in a non creepy way!
This book I got in a discount book shop it's really small but still a coffee table type book with lots of black and white pictures with a small description of each photo.
I have every movie Marilyn was in; you can get sets of her DVD's in HMV and sometimes in Tesco. This is a must have in any collection! (not all in the picture, my younger Brother robbed a few to watch!)
Finally is my newest edition, This lipstick 'Scarlet Ibis' from the limited edition Marilyn Monroe collection is MAC cosmetics. I've used it twice but I keep it on display and don't plan on using it too much as I want to keep it forever. A little weird? It's a matte red and really nice. I bought a lip liner as well from the collection but it's nothing special to Marilyn.

And that my friends is my collection! I'm not bragging everyone has a hobby, a love, obesession if you will and mine is Marilyn Monroe, I admire her beauty, her talent and wish I could have been alive when she was.

Until next time, I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

Beauty Blogger Tag

I felt like doing a tag post as I feel the need to blog but don't have anything in particular to blog about! So google showed me this this one, it's quite long but maybe you'll learn something about moi!

SO here it is!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Naturally very very curly... frizzy.

2. What is your natural hair colour?

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I don't dye it I am au natural! But in the past if I were dying it darker I'd do it myself but if I were going lighter I'd go to a salon(except both times I went bleach blonde cause I knew no hairdresser would do it!)

4. How often do you wash your hair?
Every other day.. sometimes longer depending on how 'icky' it is

5. Do you wear the same style every day or change it?
I'm trying not to put heat on my hair or at least not straighten it but I slip up so mostly I wear it curly but sometimes straight

6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I do my own, don't like people at my feet.. can't afford it anyway! As a treat sometimes I get my nails done but that's very rare

7. How often to you change your nail polish?
I can't wear polish to college so once or twice a week

8. Do you polish your toes in the winter, too or just in the summer?
I do when I feel like it but usually I just do it super quick

9. How long does it take to put on your makeup?
I can do it in 5 minutes and I can do it 5 hours but on average 20 minutes- half an hour

10. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Face, Eyes, Lips

Of course I collect! I'm a makeup/beauty youtuber/blogger and I'm a student makeup artist. I'm also a girl! haha

12. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Every single time I'm going out out like to a club or whatever.

13. Do you do a full face of makeup every day?
Nope! If I know I'll be taking it off in college I won't; I mean hello! Waste much!? And if I'm lounging around the house, doing odd jobs, going to a late movie or something I won't bother either.

14. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone (or with family)?
haha NOPE, unless it was a family event where photo's are being taken!

15. Will you leave the house without makeup?
All the time!

16. How many high end products do you have?
Emm I'd say my makeup collection is 50/50 if you count things like mac, urban decay, inglot etc as high end?

17. How often do you wash your makeup brushes?
The brushes I use in college every single time I use them. My own ones I'm not so good at I'll spot clean if I'm using a different colour eye shadow then usual but I would deep clean once a week or once a forthnight... I know so bad!

18. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
I wouldn't really plan it unless it was going to something I wanted to look really snazzy for normally I just see what i feel like wearing that day when I'm getting dressed

19. How often do you change your handbag?
Not very often, I don't like any of mine so I use my sisters..

20. What time do you get up & go to sleep?
I get up between 7.30 and 9.00(depending on what time I'm in college that day) and on weekends between 9.00 and 11.00 usually. The bed during college between 10 and 11 and on weekends between 11 and 1.00.. sometimes later!

I used to work out 5 days a week but I've fallen off the wagon, My (crappy)cross trainer has been fixed so hopefully I'll start using it more

22. Left-handed or Right-handed?
Right handed!

23. How tall are you?
Too short 5'5... okay that's what I tell people but it's more like 5'4 ish

24. Do you speak a foreign language?
Ich sprache klein Deutsch, es war mein liebligsfach in der schule aber ich bin nicht so gut!

25. How many pets do you have?
My baby doll doggie Lucy Lou and an evil cat Poppy..

26. How often are you on Blogger?

27. Do you read the comments posted blogs?
All the time, especially on the Irish bloggers to find more irish bloggers!

28. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
In my head mostly and sometimes yes on my phone if I've seen it pop up on a few people's blogs.

29. How did you come up with your blog name?
It's my youtube name.

30. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
Canon s90 or my Dad's Nikon DSLR(I'm getting my own for Crimbo hopefully!!)

Let's chance that to room! I clean it weekly usually but try to keep it clean all the time.

32. What is your favorite colour?

33. What is your favorite beauty/fashion magazine?
I'm really getting into Vogue! I never thought I'd say that but I've bought it for the last 2 months and have really enjoyed them!

34. Do you swear?
I'm trying not to and every time I do I sort of scold myself in my mind, I say Bi*ch and Sh*t though and don't see much of a problem with those 2 words..

35. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
It's 9pm right now so I'll hopefully finish cleaning my room and then have a bath!

So that's the tag, please do it yourself and link me to it either in the comments or on twitter.

Until next time I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

Benefit Blogger Challenge: My Dad Does My Makeup!

Us bloggers were challenged to a rather fun competition with a rather great prize so naturally I accepted right away!

The Challenge
Have a man in your life(be it your Brother, Boyfriend, Son, Dad or a man you grab off the street!) do your makeup have him do a full face makeup to include but not limited to foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara

Well I thought doing this with my Dad would be fun as he is the most unfeminine person I know and doesn't know a scrap about makeup. Perfect.

I filmed the whole thing which is on my YouTube channel but here are some photo's I took. I was very surprised with the result, I honestly thought I'd look a mess but with a few more goes I think he'd be pretty good! Weirdly the foundation looked far more 'yellow-y orange' but normally it matches so I don't know what happened there ha ha! He was also very enthusiastic and quite the little performer!
The Products Dad used(purple eye shadow in palette)

Until next time I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you all soon,
Wish me luck!

Eldora Handmade Lashes Review

I had never heard of Eldora lashes before but when I was given the chance to try them after doing some research I was really excited to give them a go! Then weirdly enough one of my Teacher's in college was raving about them a few days ago!

The lashes I was given to try are the H121 Human Hair 'light and curvy natural lashes with shorter width'
I held on to them until the right time so when I was doing a look in college that they fit into I got super excited! The lashes aren't on me but they they look fab on my gorgeous friend Kate!
The lashes are really easy to apply, I can't say anything about the glue that comes with them as I always use my Duo glue as it's never failed me before but I'm sure it does the job!

My favourite thing about the lashes is that the band is really thin so you don't have to have a really thick eyeliner to hide the fact that their fake in fact I didn't apply any liner to the lash line!

All lashes are hand made which is kinda cool really!

The company sell a huge variety of lashes from day to theatrical to feathers to individuals in both synthetic and real human hair.

The lashes start at £3.90 I believe. The pair I am reviewing sells for £4.50

Ultimately I am really pleased with the lashes and would encourage you all to check out their website to find out a bit more and the shop if you want a sneaky purchase!

I hope you guys enjoyed this review, let me know if you've ever tried these lashes or if you will now ha ha!

Until next time,
I hope you're all well and I'll talk to you soon,

My portfolio/Makeup course update

If you're new to my blog then you might not know that I am currently attending college studying Theatrical and Media Makeup so I thought I'd do an update on the course!

Well firstly let me just say.. it is HARD! I honestly thought it was going to be really easy but there is so much work to be done it's crazy!

We have 19 fashion looks to be examined in and to be honest I don't know how many theatrical/special effects we have and then there are a few more on top to include a few body paints... yeah I know. Crazy.

The work behind each look is quite difficult and time consuming. For each look you must have a cover page, written research/introduction, mood board, step by step guide, consultation form, face chart and before & after pictures which you must style accordingly.

If anyone would like me to go into more detail as to what each step entails just drop me a comment or a tweet and will do!

So that's a quick update I may do little things like this in the future but for now I'll just show you a few picture's that I will be including in my portfolio and that I have completed.

Until Next Time I Hope You're All Well and I'll Talk To You Soon,

Benefit's First Cream Blush Reveal!

I mentioned in the last post that we were shown a brand new product by Benefit but wasn't sure if we could talk about it.. turns out. We can(yeay!). Benefit always realeses something just gawjuz at the end of January usually a box powder(who said Hoola bronzer!?..okay I'll stop) but they decided to shake things up and have invented this cream blush/highligher!

The lighting wasn't the best in the event location and I kinda forgot to take a photo of the swatch on my hand.
Basically there are 3 colours:
Pink Blush
Coral Blush

So you can just swipe it on your cheek, blend and voila the perfect cheek combo! You can always pick out one of the colours of blush and apply it to your lips(does bene tint have cometition!?)

The wee slogan behind this product is 'You have the right to get gorgeous'. How cute is that!

The name of this product is(drum roll please) 'Fine One One' and will be available to buy at the end of January 2013(well that's scary to write!)

How excited are you? Will you be snapping one of  these up?
Let me know in comment form!

Until next time I hope you're all well and I'l talk to you soon,
